Effect of phosphorus and gypsum on growth and yield of toria

Saurabh Bajirao Patil and Shraddha Rawat

A field experiment was conducted during Rabi season 2024-25 at Crop Research Farm, Department of Agronomy, SHUATS, Prayagraj (U.P) on Toria. The soil of experimental plot was sandy loam in texture, low in organic carbon (0.72%), nearly neutral in soil pH (6.2), Nitrogen (170.48 kg/ha), Phosphorous (23.80 kg/ha), Potassium (233.24 kg/ha). The Treatment consist of Phosphorus (40, 50, 60 kg/ha) and Gypsum (100,150,200 kg/ha). The experiment was carried out in a randomized block design with ten treatments and were replicated thrice. The results revealed that significantly higher plant height (125.6 cm), dry weight (21.91 g/plant), number of Siliqua/plant (229.4), number of seeds/Siliqua (21.2), seed yield (2.68 t/ha), stover yield (6.02 t/ha). Maximum gross return (157002.13 INR/ha), net returns (102800.13 INR /ha) and benefit cost ratio (1.90) were obtained in the treatment T9 (60 kg/ha Phosphorus + 200 kg/ha Gypsum) in Toria crop.
