Agriculture remains a critical pillar for food security, employment, and economic development. However, modern agriculture faces significant challenges including declining soil fertility, water scarcity, and labor shortages. Sustainable agricultural mechanization (SAM) presents a viable solution to address these issues by promoting energy-efficient and environmentally responsible technologies in farming. This paper discusses the current state of farm mechanization in India, highlighting regional disparities and the need for location-specific strategies. It explores the concept of SAM and outlines its major benefits, such as improved input efficiency, optimized water usage, and reduced dependency on manual labor. The integration of precision agriculture tools and renewable energy systems further strengthens the potential of SAM to contribute to sustainable and resilient agricultural systems.
