Effect of zinc and molybdenum on growth and yield of foxtail millet

Sirisha, Karishma Singh and Joy Dawson

A field experiment on foxtail millet was conducted during Zaid season of 2024 at Crop Research Farm, Department of Agronomy. The treatment consists of three levels of zinc [10, 15 and 20 kg/ha] and Molybdenum [100, 200 and 300 ppm] along with recommended dose of nutrients [N:P:K, 50:20:30 kg/ha]. The experiment laid out in RBD with 10 treatments and replicated thrice. Application of Zinc 20Kg/ha in combination with Molybdenum 100 ppm recorded higher plant height (93.73cm), maximum plant dry weight (11.80g), more number of tillers/plant (4.83) and also the yield attributes namely number of ears/plant (4.80), number of seeds/ears (260.97), grain yield (2.03 t/ha) and straw yield (3.50 t/ha), maximum gross return (INR 113890.00), net return (INR 80643.1) and B:C ratio (2.43) was also recorded in these treatments.
