A field experiment was conducted at the Research-cum instructional farm, College of Agriculture, Raipur (C.G.) during 2020-21 and 2021-22. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replications. The treatments consisted of ten rice based cropping systems which were selected to develop suitable rice-based cropping system module for integrated farming systems of Chhattisgarh plains i.e. rice (MTU 1010)-wheat-green manure; rice (MTU 1010)-chickpea-fallow; rice (Dubraj)-garden pea-cowpea(veg.); rice (Devbhog)-cowpea(veg.)-moong; rice (Zinco rice)-mustard-moong; rice (Protazin)-french bean-groundnut; rice (Badshah bhog)-berseem-sorghum; rice (Vishnubhog)-oat-pearl millet; rice (Hybrid US 312)-sweet corn-tomato+coriander(1:1); rice (Hybrid Arize Gold)-cabbage-sweet corn+cowpea(veg.)(1:1). The results of kharif rice crop revealed that the growth attributes varied significantly due to different varieties used in the various treatments. The effect on plant population was non-significant, plant height was significantly higher in rice (Badshah bhog), dry matter accumulation(g hill-2) was maximum in rice (Hybrid Arize Gold). The number of leaves hill-1, leaf area cm2 and LAI was found maximum in rice (Devbhog). All the yield attributes were significantly higher under hybrid rice (Arize Gold) over other rice varieties. On the basis of objectives of investigation, rice variety Dubraj grown under rice (Dubraj) - garden pea - cowpea(veg.) cropping system was more suitable for soil health improvement point of view, while rice variety Protazin grown under (Protazin) - french bean - groundnut for family nutrition, rice variety Badshsh bhog grown under rice (Badshsh bhog) - berseem - sorghum cropping system for animal fodder and hybrid rice Arize gold grown under rice (Hybrid Arize Gold)-cabbage-sweet corn+cowpea(veg.)(1:1) for maximum rice yield was suitable for income generation.
