Effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers on yield, quality and economics of garlic (Allium sativum L.)

Parveen Choudhary and Santosh Kumari

The experiment was carried out at College of Horticulture & Forestry, Neri, Hamirpur (HP) during rabi season, 2021 to investigate the effect of integrated nutrient management on growth and yield in garlic and the experiment was laid out in the randomized complete block design with eighteen treatments. The results of the study revealed that minimum days to marketable maturity, maximum plant height, number of leaves per plant, average bulb weight, bulb length, bulb breadth, average clove weight, number of cloves per bulb, bulb yield per plot, neck thickness, total soluble solids and dry matter contentwere observed by application of T12 (75% NPK + 40 kg S/ha + Azotobacter + PSB + FYM). Highest Benefit Cost ratio was also recorded in treatment T12. The combined application of inorganic fertilizers along with biofertilizers and organic manures helps in improving the growth, yield and quality parameters of garlic.
