Crop harvesting is very important agricultural operation which requires considerable amount of labor and cost. During peak harvesting season the availability and cost of labor are the serious problems. The labor shortage and weather variation during harvesting season causes great losses to farmers. Therefore, it is essential to adopt mechanical methods for crop harvesting. The use of mechanical harvesting devices has been increased a few years ago. Now mostly the farmers use manual or tractor harvesters to harvest their crops. But tractor operated harvesters are very costly and un-affordable to small scale farmers. Although, some mini tractor operated harvester were also developed. But due to limited mini tractor operated they were not very efficient because the power available for movement of harvester as well as digging and conveying of the root crop was insufficient. This research gives a review of harvesting machines and techniques which were carried out from last decay. It helps those who want to work on crops harvester by providing the review of papers in one paper. This paper creates easiness in their literature review process.
