Studies on weed management practices in coriander (Coriander sativum)

The present study was carried out during Rabi, 2022 to study the various weed management in Coriander at College of Horticulture, Bidar. Results revealed that, the highest plant height (101.19cm), number of branches (13/plant), number of umbels (20.24/plant) and number of umbellates (4.05/umbel) of coriander were recorded with hand weeded plot which was on par effect with pre-emergent application of pendimethalin 38.7CS 0.7 kg a.i ha^-1 (pre-emergence) and hand weeding at 30 DAS seed yield (1062.93 kg ha^-1), stover yield (1683 kg ha^-1) and harvest index (38.70%) of coriander were recorded with pendimethalin 38.7CS 0.7 kg a.i ha^-1 (pre-emergence) which was on par weed free check and hand weeding at 30 DAS The lowest number of weeds and weed index (0%) recorded in weed free. Highest cost of cultivation (Rs.47562/ha) in weed free and gross returns (Rs. 79,720) and B:C ratio (1.9) was obtained in T₁ with pendimethalin 38.7 CS at a rate of 0.7 kg active ingredient per ha (PE) combined with HW at 30 DAS. Hence, effective management of weeds along with better growth, yield attributes and profitable production in rabi coriander can be obtained by pre-emergent application of of pendimethalin 38.7CS 0.7 kg a.i ha^-1 (pre-emergence) and hand weeding at 30 DAS.
