Abstract
Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) is an essential cereal crop grown in arid and semi-arid regions across the globe, serving as a major source of food, animal feed, and biofuel. However, its productivity is often constrained by nutrient deficiencies, poor soil fertility, and inconsistent climatic conditions. In this study, the effect of Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) on sorghum growth, yield, nutrient dynamics, and quality was evaluated at Agronomy Research Farm, T.D.P.G. College, Jaunpur, during the Kharif season (2022-2023). INM integrates organic manures, biofertilizers, and inorganic fertilizers to enhance soil fertility and crop productivity. The study found that the application of 10 t FYM + 75% RDF or 100% RDF significantly enhanced plant height, leaf area index (LAI), dry matter accumulation, crop growth rate (CGR), and yield attributes. Nutrient uptake and soil fertility were also positively impacted, resulting in increased profitability. This study highlights the benefits of INM in improving sorghum yield and soil health compared to sole reliance on chemical fertilizers. The findings suggest that INM is a sustainable practice that can enhance sorghum productivity while maintaining soil fertility, making it a recommended practice for sustainable agricultural intensification.
