Effect of macro and micro nutrients on growth, yield and economics of Rice bean (Vigna umbellata L.)

An experiment entitled “Effect of macro and micro nutrients on growth, yield and economics of Rice bean (Vigna umbellata L.)” was conducted at College of Agriculture, Kalaburagi during Kharif 2023. The experiment was laid out in RCBD with eleven treatments and replicated thrice. The experimental results revealed that application of 100% RDF as basal dose + 0.5% Zinc sulphate (21%) + 0.5% Ferrous sulphate (20.1%) as foliar application recorded significantly higher seed yield (1095 kg ha^-1), crude protein content (23.94%), net returns (Rs. 50,901 ha^-1) and BC ratio (3.94) in rice bean crop. Further, growth and yield parameters viz. plant height at harvest (65.16 cm), total dry matter (29.66 g plant^-1), number of pods plant^-1 (27.12), 100 test weight (6.58 g) were also significantly higher with 100% RDF + 0.5% Zinc sulphate (21%)+ 0.5% Ferrous sulphate (20.1%). However, it was on par with 75% RDF + 0.5% Zinc sulphate (21%) + 0.5% Ferrous sulphate (20.1%) treatment. In contrast, lower values for growth and yield parameters were recorded with absolute control treatment.
