Drone-assisted agronomy leverages unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to monitor crops and apply inputs with unprecedented precision. Advances in drone technology, sensor payloads and data analytics have transformed farming by enabling targeted crop mapping, early stress detection and efficient spraying. This article reviews the evolution of agricultural drones and explores their applications in remote sensing and precision spraying. We discuss how data-driven interventions combining drone imagery, AI and cloud analytics optimize irrigation, fertilization and pest control. Global case studies (China, India, Brazil, U.S. and Europe) illustrate real-world benefits and adoption. We analyze economic aspects (costs, ROI) showing that drones can reduce labour and input expenses by roughly 20-30% per hectare. The report also examines regulatory frameworks in key regions (USA, EU, India, Brazil) and considers environmental impacts (reduced chemical usage, water and carbon savings). Technical challenges (battery life, payload limits, data complexity) and social concerns (skills training, privacy) are highlighted. Finally, we discuss future outlooks such as AI-driven swarms, solar-powered platforms and tighter integration with IoT positioning drone agronomy as a critical component of sustainable, precision agriculture.
