Effect of sulphur and micronutrients on growth and yield of sesame (Sesamum indicum L.)

Kumari Priya and Victor Debbarma

The field experiment titled “Effect of Sulphur and micronutrients on growth and yield of sesame (Sesamum indicum L.)” was conducted at Crop Research Farm, Department of Agronomy, Naini Agriculture Institute, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Science, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh during Kharif season of 2024. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with ten treatments which were replicated three times. The results revealed that treatment-T7 [sulphur (50 kg/ha) + zinc (10 kg/ha)] was found to be more desirable with higher growth parameters viz, significantly taller plant height (115.89 cm), higher plant dry weight (11.01g), yield attributes and yield namely maximum number of capsules/plant (43.00), maximum number of seeds/capsule (68.53), higher seed yield (0.75 t/ha) and higher straw yield (2.87 t/ha). Maximum gross return (121273.43 INR/ha), net return (78955.93 INR/ha) and benefit cost ratio (1.87) were also recorded in treatment 7 [sulphur (50 kg/ha) + zinc 10 kg/ha].
