A field experiment was conducted during Kharif 2024 at
Crop Research Farm, Department of Agronomy, SHUATS, Prayagraj (U.P). The soil
of experimental plot was sandy loam in texture, nearly neutral in soil reaction
(pH 7.1), medium in organic carbon (0.53%), low in available N (165.48 kg/ha),
medium in available P (27.52 kg/ha) and high in available K (212.36 kg/ha). The
treatment consists of three levels of Sulphur and three different levels of
organic manure and one control was used. The present investigation on
experiment named “Effect of Sulphur and Organic Manure on Growth and Yield of
Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L)”. The
experiment was laid out in randomized block design consisting of 10 treatments
replicated thrice. The significantly maximum plant height (123.25 cm), plant
dry weight (61.24 g/plant), flower diameter (8.31), maximum number of seeds per
capitulum (225.40), higher test weight (41.59 g), higher seed yield (1412.30
kg/ha), maximum stover yield (3005.27 kg/ha) and highest harvest index (31.97%)
were recorded in (treatment 7) Sulphur 40 kg/ha + FYM 12 t/ha. Maximum gross
return (INR 98,861.00/ha), net return (INR 68,911.00/ha) and B:C ratio (1.61)
were also recorded in (treatment 7) Sulphur 40 kg/ha + FYM 12 t/ha. It can be
concluded that the application of Sulphur 40 kg/ha + FYM 12 t/ha recorded
higher yield and benefit cost ratio in Sunflower.
