Genetic divergence studies in chickpea [C. arietinum] genotypes” in sandy loam of Sri Ganganagar district in Rajasthan

Nirmala Rani, US Shekhawat and Arshad Khan

The present investigation was conducted to assess the information on different variability parameters, Heritability, Genetic advance and genetic divergence among 10 different traits in 27 genotypes of Chickpea evaluated in randomized block design during Rabi 2022-2023 at Research farm, Tantia University Sri ganganagar. The analysis of variance revealed that mean sum of square was found significant for all the traits under study depicted a wide range of variability and significant differences present between all the attributes under study. On the basis of per se performance the genotype RSG-888 recorded glorious achievement first high yielding variety RSG-888 at national level and RSG-973 (Abha) at state level. Also found superior for other traits. The high degree of genetic variability along with high heritability coupled with high genetic advance as per cent of mean was observed for number of primary branches per plant, number of pods per plant, 100-seed weight. Highly significant and positive genotypic and phenotypic correlations of Chickpea seed yield per plant were observed for 100-seed weight.
