Amaranth is one of the oldest food crops in the world). It is one of the important future crops gaining wide acceptance (Tucker, 1986). Amaranth has wide adaptability and can be grown from temperate to tropical conditions. Amaranth is native to and cultivated in tropical and subtropical climates where warm temperatures favor seed germination and plant development. Seed qualitative characters are a significant approach to identify diverse genotype for quality seed production. Therefore, the present experiment was conducted in Rabi season 2021-22, Summer season 2022-23 and Kharif season 2022-23 at PGI Farm, M.P.K.V., Rahuri, The seed yield, seed quality and qualitative characters were tested for eight grain amaranthus genotypes. All eight genotypes found differed for almost all qualitative characters viz. Inflorescence compactness (compact, intermediate, open and others), Inflorescence spininess (smooth, glabrous, prickly, spiny and others), Inflorescence shape (globose, semi drooping, completely drooping, straight and others), stem colour (yellow, yellowish green, orange, pink, red, reddish green,) reddish orange and others) Seed colour (white, creamish, pale yellow, pink, red and brown).
