A field experiment was conducted during Kharif 2022 and 2023 and evaluated different rice genotypes (35) under Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) method of paddy cultivation along with six genotypes as checks using randomized block design with two replications. In present study genotypes were evaluated for morphological and yield attributes. Results revealed that, Genotypes suited for DSR must possess morphological traits that support rapid early establishment and sustained growth. Key traits include early vigour, optimal plant height, high tillers, and high leaf area. Early vigour is crucial for weed suppression. Genotypes like IET 28746, IET 29965, and IET 29511 have demonstrated such morphological traits, giving them a competitive advantage in DSR. This indicated that yield is a complex trait and it can be improved through indirect selection of these traits in DSR method.
