The Brinjal Shoot and Fruit Borer (Leucinodes orbonalis L.) is a major pest in brinjal cultivation, leading to significant yield loss and lowered crop quality. This study, conducted by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Adilabad under PJTAU, aimed to demonstrate the effectiveness of improved Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques for controlling Leucinodes orbonalis. Ten farmers were selected annually to participate in on-field demonstrations comparing traditional practices with IPM strategies. The IPM practices incorporated werecultural, mechanical, biological and judicious chemical methods adopted to pest life-cycles and crop stages. Data on pest infestation, yield and economic returns were recorded and analysed. Results demonstrate that IPM practices effectively reduced pest incidence, improved yields and enhanced economic returns, providing a scalable model for sustainable brinjal pest management.
