Abstract
A field experiment was conducted during Rabi 2023-24 and 2024-25 at Mansarovar Global University, Sehore (M.P.) to study the effect of different planting methods on growth and yield of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). The experiment consisted of three planting methods namely System of Wheat Intensification (SWI), Furrow Irrigated Raised Bed System (FIRBS), and Conventional method. The study was laid out in Split Plot Design with three replications. Results revealed that FIRBS significantly increased plant height, tillers, leaf area index, dry matter accumulation, grain and straw yield over the conventional method, while SWI also showed superior performance in terms of growth and yield attributes. Among planting systems, FIRBS recorded maximum grain yield (5231 kg ha⁻¹) and straw yield (7865 kg ha⁻¹), followed by SWI (5125 kg ha⁻¹). The highest benefit: cost ratio (1.92) was obtained in FIRBS with 100% RDN through inorganic fertilizers. Hence, FIRBS proved to be a sustainable and water-efficient planting method for enhancing wheat productivity under central Madhya Pradesh conditions.
