Abstract
A field experiment entitled “Effect of phosphate rich organic manure (PROM) on growth, yield and quality of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)” was conducted during Rabi 2024-25 at Agronomy Farm, College of Agriculture, Pune. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design having eight treatments with three replications; T1[ Absolute control], T2 [Control (No P2O5).], T3 [100% P through Single Super phosphate (SSP)], T4 [100% P through Phosphate Rich Organic Manure (PROM)], T5 [125% P through Phosphate rich organic manure (PROM)], T6 [25% P through Phosphate rich organic manure (PROM)+ 75% P through Single Super phosphate (SSP)], T7 [50% P through Phosphate rich organic manure (PROM) + 50% P through Single Super phosphate (SSP)], T8 [75% P through Phosphate rich organic manure (PROM) + 25% P through Single Super phosphate (SSP)]. The soil of experimental site was clay loam in texture. The findings of present investigation revealed that all growth contributing parameters viz., plant height (97.26 cm), number of branches plant-1 (6.13), dry matter plant-1 (54.38 g), yield contributing characters viz., number of pods plant-1 (52.27), pod weight plant-1 (32.87), seed weight plant-1 (146.33), 100 seed weight (17.81 g) and seed yield (38.95 q ha-1) and haulm yield (58.41 q ha-1) and quality parameters like protein content (39.08%) were significantly higher recorded with application of 100% P through SSP (T3). The treatment 100% P through SSP (T3) was found at par with 25% P through PROM + 75% P through SSP (T6) and 50% P through PROM + 50% P through SSP (T7) in all growth parameters, yield contributing characters and seed and haulm yield.
