Effect of seed pretreatments on growth of Ocimum tenuiflorum var. CIM Ayu

Abstract
The present investigation entitled “Effect of seed pretreatments on growth of Ocimum tenuiflorum var. CIM Ayu. The present investigation entitled “Effect of seed pretreatments on germination and growth of Ocimum tenuiflorum var. CIM Ayu” was carried out at Pt. KLS College of Horticulture and Research Station, Rajnandgaon, during Summar season 2024-25. The experiment was conducted in Completely Randomized Block Design with 11 treatments of Control, scarification, Hot water treatment, water soaking, concentrated sulphuric acid, 2 levels of GA3 (1000,2000 µm), 2 levels of IAA (1µm, 2µm), 2 levels of BA (100µm, 200µm) and replicated in three times. The observations were recorded for growth characters of Ocimum. In case of seed pretreatments, GA3@2000 µm has resulted in maximum plant height in 60, 90 DAT, number of branches in 30 DAS and 60, 90 DAT, stem girth in 30 DAS and 60 and 90 DAT, number of leaves in 30 DAS and 60, 90 DAT, number of nodes 30 DAS and 60, 90 DAT. IAA@1 µm produced highest root length. Hence, on the basic of result obtained from the present investigation it can be concluded that the GA3@2000µm was found best treatment for seedling growth of Ocimum tenuiflorum var, CIM Ayu.
