Impact of ready-mix herbicides on weed growth and yield of aerobic rice under trickle irrigation

Svarna H, Ramadass S, Rajeshkumar A and Chandrasekaran P

The experimental layout was executed as randomized block design with three replications and eight treatments were performed in SRM College of Agricultural Sciences, Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, during March-Jun of 2024 to study the effect of different ready-mix herbicides in aerobic rice under trickle irrigation system. Various herbicides include pendimethalin, bensulfuron methyl + pretilachlor as pre-emergence sprayed three days after sowing (DAS), triafamone + ethoxysulfuron as early post emergence sprayed 10 DAS, bispyribac sodium as post emergence sprayed on 25 DAS. Treatments also include manual weeding at 20 and 40 DAS and weedy check with complete weed infestation. The weed observation at 20 and 40 DAS recorded that spraying of triafamone + thoxysulfuron followed by hand weeding at 40 DAS exhibited lowest weed density of 10.2 No./m2 and 4.3 No./m2, lowest weed intensity of 16.9% and 8.0%, lowest weed dry weight of 4.08 g/m2 and 2.59 g/m2 and highest weed control efficiency of 89.9% and 97.5% and highest grain production (5388 kg/ha) and harvest index (0.40). Highest weed infestation and lowest grain was seen at unweeded plot.
