Abstract
The present experiment entitled “Effect of cow urine through foliar application on rice crop production under sandy loam soil”. This experiment was conducted at the Instructional Farm of Barrister Thakur Chhedilal College of Agriculture and Research Station in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh during Kharif season of 2022 to evaluate the effect of combination of inorganic fertilizers and cow urine on yield of rice variety VIKRAM-TCR. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Block Design with three replications and ten treatments. The treatment consists of T1 (100% of RDF as basal (100:60:40 NPK kg ha-1)), T2 (75% of RDF as basal), T3 (50% of RDF as basal), T4 (100% of RDF as basal + 20% of cow urine as foliar spray), T5 (75% of RDF as basal + 20% of cow urine as foliar spray), T6 (50% of RDF as basal + 20% of cow urine as foliar spray), T7 (100% of RDF as basal + 10% of cow urine as foliar spray), T8 (75% of RDF as basal + 10% of cow urine as foliar spray), T9 (50% of RDF as basal + 10% of cow urine as foliar spray), T10 (Control). The results showed that the 100% of RDF as basal + 20% of cow urine as foliar spray (T4) performed the best in terms of number of panicles hill-1, number of seeds panicle-1, number of filled grains per panicle, number of chaffy grains per panicle, test weight (g), grain yield (q ha-1), straw yield (q ha-1). This was followed closely by the treatment involving sequential application of 100% of RDF as basal + 10% of cow urine as foliar spray (T7) and 100% of RDF as basal (100:60:40 NPK kg ha-1 (T1). The Control treatment (T10) gave the lowest values for all the parameters measured. Overall, the study demonstrated that study the effect of cow urine through foliar application on rice crop production under sandy loam soil. Among the treatments 100% of RDF as basal + 20% of cow urine as foliar spray was found to be most effective in managing weeds and improving crop productivity.
