Cucumber, scientifically known as Cucumis sativus L., holds significance as an Asiatic plant within the Cucurbitaceae family, characterized by a chromosome count of 2n=2x=14. Cucumber grows best at temperatures above 20 °C. It is prone to frost and thermophilic in nature. In addition to its cooling properties, immature fruits are considered useful for people suffering from constipation, jaundice, and indigestion. Thirty-four diverse genotypes of cucumber were evaluated in Complete Randomized Block Design (CRBD) with three replications including standard check cultivar i.e Punjab Naveen at Main Experiment Station of Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. It is concluded from the present investigation that for the improvement of various horticultural traits in cucumber, it would be better to carry out hybridization between genotypes from cluster III (NUC 21-28 and NUC 21-27) and cluster V (NDCU 23-18, NDCU 23-24 and NDCU 23-28) in order to obtain better recombinants.
