A field experiment was carried out to study the performance of IIHR tomato varieties under agro-climatic condition of Sonitpur district of Assam, during the year 2021-22 and 2022-23 covering three numbers of villages namely Amolapam, Paramaighuli and Berajan. Two IIHR tomato varieties namely Arka Abhed and Arka Rakshak along with one farmer’s variety Trishul (check variety) were studied for growth and yield attributing characters. The experiment was laid out using randomized block design with four numbers of replications. The results revealed that IIHR varieties perform better as compared to public sector hybrid variety Trishul regarding growth and yield attributing characters and variety Arka Abhed was found superior to others in terms of per hectare yield (644.26q ha-1), net return (Rs.5,23,260.00) and Benefit cost ratio (5.32) whereas farmer’s variety Trishul recorded the lowest values of 395.36 q ha-1, Rs.2,64,240.00 and 3.01 respectively. The performance of multiple disease resistant variety Arka Abhed was convincing to the farmers of the locality and increasing its possibility of horizontal expansion in the district.
