A field investigation was conducted to assess the response of organic sources of nitrogen on growth and yield of kharif onion (Allium cepa L.) during kharif 2023 at Agronomy farm, College of Agriculture, Pune. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications in medium black, well-drained, and uniformly deep soil up to 90 cm. The gross and net plot sizes were 3.0 m × 1.20 m and 2.60 m × 0.90 m, respectively. There were ten treatments viz., T1 (100% Recommended dose of nitrogen through FYM), T2 (100% Recommended dose of nitrogen through poultry manure), T3 (100% Recommended dose of nitrogen through vermicompost), T4 (75% RDN through FYM + 25% RDN through PM ), T5 (75% RDN through FYM + 25% RDN through vermicompost), T6 (75% RDN through PM + 25% RDN through FYM), T7 (75% RDN through poultry manure + 25% RDN through VC), T8 (75% RDN through VC + 25% RDN through FYM), T9 (75% RDN through VC + 25% RDN through PM) and T10 (1/3 dose of N through FYM + 1/3 dose of N through Poultry Manure + 1/3 dose of N through Vermicompost) along with it all the seedlings were treated Azospirillum @ 5 ml/lit. The results revealed that all the growth contributing characters viz., plant height, number of leaves plant-1, neck thickness, dry matter plant-1 and days to maturity were found significantly higher with the application of T3-100% Recommended Dose of Nitrogen (RDN) using vermicompost. This was followed by application of T2-100% RDN from poultry manure and T9 75% RDN from vermicompost plus 25% RDN from poultry manure, respectively. However, substantial reduction in observations of growth attributes were recorded with treatment T1-100% RDN through FYM.
