Characterizing grain quality in bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) genotypes under heat stress conditions
Namitha Elizabeth, VL Gawande and Swati G Bharad
Sixty-four bread wheat genotypes were evaluated under optimal and late sowing conditions to investigate the influence of heat stress on grain quality parameters. Estimates of mean performances were collected for grain starch content, β-carotene content, and protein content. The parental material included six females, eight males and 48 crosses along with two checks. Starch content and β-carotene content declined in the late-sown trials compared to timely-sown whereas the protein content showed a rise under late sown conditions compared to timely-sown condition.
