The present investigation, “Evaluation of different Kokum (Garcinia indica Choisy) genotypes for Morpho- physical parameters," carried out at the College of Horticulture, Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli, Dist. Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, during the years 2021-22 to 2022-23. The objective of this investigation was to study the variation in morpho- physical characters, among different kokum genotypes. The study was conducted on forty kokum seedling trees at the full-bearing stage, randomly selected from the kokum plot at the College of Horticulture, Dapoli. Out of them, thirty were gynoecious females and ten were andromonoecious, all forty-three years old. The experiment was laid out in a (RBD), with forty genotypes acting as treatments, Observations were recorded on morpho physical parameters such as plant height (m), canopy volume (m3), crown shape, tree vigor, and the sexual system of the genotypes, were recorded. The results of this study indicated significant variability among all genotypes. While studying plant morphological characteristics, it was observed that plant height was highest in the DPLK-131 genotype (14.22 m) and lowest plant height (7.28 m) was recorded in genotype DPLK-219. Plant canopy volume ranged from 80.99 m³ to 334.77 m³, with an average of 195.77 m³. The maximum plant canopy volume (334.77 m³) found in the spreading genotype DPLK-65. Out of the forty genotypes, twenty-nine were conical in shape, seven were pyramidal and four were spreading. Most genotypes exhibited strong tree vigor, while some displayed intermediate vigor. Among the selected genotypes, thirty were gynoecious and ten andromonoecious. Considering the comparative performance concerning various parameters, it is observed that genotypes DPLK-65, DPLK-131, DPLK-114, DPLK-171, DPLK-226, DPLK-260, DPLK-58 showed superior performance as good as released variety Konkan Amruta of kokum. These genotypes are promising for further hybridization and development of new varieties.
