The present investigation entitled studies on the effect of putrescine and different rooting substrates on rooting and survival of hardwood cuttings of fig (Ficus carica L.) cv. Brown Turkey under controlled conditions” was carried out at SKLTGHU College of Horticulture, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad during the year of 2023. The experiment was laid out in a Factorial Completely Randomized Design with eighteen (18) treatment combinations replicated thrice. In the present study out of two different concentrations of Putrescine, Putrescine 3mM significantly performed better than Putrescine 2 mM with respect to various rooting parameters viz., rooting percentage (80.39%), number of roots (46.70), length of longest root (23.50 cm) and fresh and dry weight of roots (3.04 g and 1.47 g) at 90 DAP. among rooting substrates R8 (Soil + Vermicompost + Vermiculite 2:1:1 + PSB 5g + VAM 5g /polybag) significantly showed better results viz., maximum rooting percentage (85.46%), survival percentage (84.93%), number of roots (53.53), length of the longest root (31.41 cm), fresh weight and dry weight of roots (3.60 g and 1.80 g) at 90 DAP and among interactions Putrescine 3mM (P2) with Soil + Vermicompost + Vermiculite 2:1:1 + PSB 5g + VAM 5g/polybag (R8) significantly showed maximum rooting percentage (85.53%).
