Abstract
Field experiment was conducted atfarmer’s field, Sengunthapuram village, Udayarpalayam taluk of Ariyalur district during Rabi season, 2022 to study the effect ofdifferent sources and levels of nitrogenon the growth, yield and quality of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.). The field trail was conducted in randomized block design with three replication consisting of thirteen treatments viz.,.T1-50% N as Prilled Urea (PU) at basal+ 25% N as PU at 20 DAS+ 25% N as PUat 45 DAS,T2-75% N as PU at basal+ 25% N as PU at 20 DAS +25% N as PU at 45DAS,T3-25% N as PU at basal+ 25% N as PU at 20 DAS+25% N as PU at 45 DAS,T4-50% N as PU at basal+ 25% N as PU at 20 DAS+25% N as Nano Urea (NU) at 45 DAS,T5-75% N as PU at basal+25% N as PU at 20 DAS+25% N as NU at 45 DAS,T6-25% N as PU at basal+25% N as PU at 20 DAS+25% N as NU at 45 DAS, T7-50% N as PU at basal+25% N as NU at 20 DAS+25% N as NU at 45 DAST8-75% N as PU at basal+25% N as NU at 20 DAS+25% N as NU at 45 DAS,T9-25% N as PU at basal+25% N as NU at 20 DAS+25%N as NU at 45 DAS,T10-50% N as NU at 10DAS+25% N as NU at 25 DAS+25%N as NU at45 DAS, T11-75%N as NU at 10DAS+25% N as NU at 25 DAS+25%N as NU at 45 DAS,T12-25% N as NU at 10DAS+25% N as NU at 25 DAS+25%N as NU at 45 DAS and T13-Absolute control. The results of the experiment revealed that among the different treatments tested application of 75% RDN through nano urea in three equal splits of 25% RDN at 10, 25 and 45 DAS (T12) excelled over all other treatments and gave significantly higher growth attributes, kernel yield of 2229kg ha-1 and better quality. It is revealed thatapplication of 75% RDN through nano urea in three equal splits of 25% RDN each at 10, 25 and 45 DAS would be the most suitable nitrogen management to augment the productivity of rainfed groundnut.
